Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 29, 2026
Tanduo is a TV-first social watch-party app that lets people create rooms, invite friends, pair a phone as a remote, control shared playback, and join room voice. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, user ID, avatar, authentication details, and profile settings.
- Room and social information: rooms you create or join, friend requests, room invites, room members, pairing codes, playback commands, and direct messages if messaging is enabled in your account.
- Voice and microphone data: when you turn on room voice, Tanduo transmits microphone audio to the other participants in that room. Tanduo does not intentionally record or store room voice audio in the app service.
- Device and usage information: device type, browser or app version, app interactions, pairing events, playback control events, connection status, approximate region derived from network information, and diagnostic logs.
- Media and playback information: shared video metadata, playback position, play/pause/seek state, and room synchronization data.
How We Use Information
- Provide rooms, friend features, invitations, phone remote pairing, synchronized playback, and live voice.
- Authenticate users, restore sessions, protect accounts, and prevent abuse.
- Operate, debug, secure, and improve Tanduo services.
- Respond to support requests and communicate about service updates.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.
Microphone Permission
The Tanduo phone remote asks for microphone access only when you choose to use room voice. You can deny microphone access, turn voice off in the app, or revoke microphone permission in your device settings. Playback remote controls can work without microphone access.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate Tanduo, such as with hosting, database, realtime, authentication, analytics, crash-reporting, and voice/video infrastructure providers. Room participants can see information you choose to share in a room, including your display name, presence, messages, playback actions, and live voice if enabled.
Data Retention
We keep account, room, invite, friendship, message, pairing, playback, and diagnostic information for as long as needed to provide Tanduo, maintain security, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Pairing codes and transient presence data are intended to expire or be replaced as the service operates.
Your Choices
- You can update account information in the app where those controls are available.
- You can turn microphone access off in Tanduo or in your device settings.
- You can leave rooms, remove friends, and sign out of your account.
- You can request account deletion or data access by contacting us.
Account Deletion
To request deletion of your Tanduo account and associated personal information, email privacy@tanduo.app from the email address connected to your account. We may need to retain limited information where required for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
Children
Tanduo is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Tanduo, contact us and we will review the request.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect Tanduo accounts and service data. No online service can guarantee complete security.
International Use
Tanduo is operated from the United States. If you use Tanduo from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate.
Changes
We may update this policy as Tanduo changes. If an update is material, we will provide notice through the app or another appropriate method.
